Proverbs 31:28: Her children rise up and praise her; her husband, too, extols her.
Today is the feast day of Saint Monica, the mother of Saint Augustine of Hippo. When we read about her life we see that her constant prayer of petition was answered . . . her son who was once decadent and hedonistic became one of the leaders of the church. Monica’s prayer and perseverance changed his life . . . and so we too, extol and praise her.
God says: I know that there are days when you wonder if I am listening; you feel as though I am absent to you. But remember this: I am with you always . . . I am with you everywhere. There is no tear you cry that I do not witness. There is no sorrow you carry that I do not carry with you. There is no joy I do not share. There is no praise too great to give you. When you persist in gentle fidelity you will endure. When you smile in the face of adversity you will move forward. And when you allow me to carry your burdens you will know life everlasting.
As we meet our small and large obstacles today let us rely on God.
